Barcode Scanners

We sell a wide variety of barcode scanners (barcode readers). The Barcode Scanners that we sell, fall into several main types: Hand Held (Cable Connected and Wireless) and Presentation Scanners.

Most clients simply want to connect a barcode scanner to a PC or EPOS terminal. In most cases they will use a low cost hand held barcode reader that connects either via a USB port or via the keyboard (keyboard wedge).

Hand Held: Cable Connected
These units connect via a cable (available in various lengths) to either a PC or EPOS unit. We sell low cost Imagers and Laser Scanners.

If you are looking for a low cost unit that is easy to use, we suggest the LS2208 at £120 for a complete kit (USB or Keyboard Wedge). Most people will just use it in their hand, however it comes with a scan stand in the box - so you can use "hands free mode" if you wish. Please see our LS2208 page.

LS2208 in its scan stand "hands free".  The LS2208 can still be picked up and used.

Hand Held: Wireless
In some situations, you might need to scan items a fair distance from the PC or EPOS terminal.
For this, we recommend using a wireless (cordless) scanner. These scanners have a base unit (know as a cradle) which connects to the PC or EPOS unit, via USB or Keyboard Wedge. The base unit has a radio and a battery charger built in. The scanner itself is placed in the cradle to charge, but can picked up and used away from the PC or EPOS unit to scan barcodes.

Users love the freedom, maintenance staff love the fact that there is no cable for users to stretch (the most common form of scanner failure). Please see our wireless barcode scanner page for more information.

Presentation Scanners
If you are working in a retail store and/or wish to scan lots of barcodes an hour without picking up the scanner, a "Presentation" scanner might be the answer. It is called a "Presentation" scanner as you present the barcode to the scanner, rather than the other way around.

Instead of putting a single beam of light onto a barcode, a presentation scanner will send a pattern of lines out, as soon as any one of them crosses the barcode, it is scanned. These scanners connect in the same way as hand held scanners - USB or Keyboard Wedge.

Other Connectivity / Options
We have only mentioned keyboard wedge and USB so far, that is because 90% of the market uses those options. We provide other types of connectivity (2000+ options in fact), so if you need these, please phone us.

We also sell industrial scanners (fork lift, high speed conveyor etc) as well as retail slot scanners.
